🎬 Priyadarshan – The Comeback We Wanted, But Not Quite

Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar reunite after 14 years – their last collaboration was Khatta Meetha in 2010. This reunion had fans excited, hoping for a return to the magic of Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Hera Pheri. The film was shot at the iconic Chomu Palace in Jaipur – the exact same location where Bhool Bhulaiyaa was filmed 18 years ago.

Director Priyadarshan revealed that the story was rewritten multiple times to make it a perfect entertainer, balancing comedy and horror. The film stands out for attempting a balance between two contrasting genres, and for the most part, it manages to keep both elements engaging.

However, the film feels like a light, spoof version of the original Bhool Bhulaiyaa, but it never quite reaches the same balance of humour, mystery, and storytelling. The reunion of the legendary director and star is mediocre, relying heavily on the "vintage" charm of its leading men.

Is it a masterpiece? No. Is it worth watching? For Akshay Kumar's comic timing, the nostalgia of the Priyadarshan ensemble, and a few genuinely funny moments – yes, once. But it's not scary enough to haunt you, and the second half falls apart. This is a solid entertainer that works best if you go in with a sense of nostalgia, offering just enough chills and chuckles to make it a worthwhile one-time watch.
